Working in Margate

Kitchens & baths in Margate.

Margate kitchen remodels split into two camps. The first: 1920s and 1930s shore cottages on narrow blocks where the kitchen is small and the structural realities (load-bearing walls, original framing we have to be careful about) shape what we can reconfigure. The second: 1970s through 2000s rebuilds where the kitchen is more conventional and the only constraints are layout and finish. Both share the salt-air problem: hinges, hardware, even some cabinet finishes won't hold up at the shore unless you pick correctly, and we've learned which brands and which finishes do. We pull Margate permits, coordinate with the flood compliance office on substantial-improvement projects, and finish most kitchens in three to five weeks.

Margate is about 22 minutes from our Mays Landing shop. Absecon Island shore homes: 1920s–1940s cottages on narrow lots, 1970s rebuilds, contemporary tear-down-rebuilds on the bayfront and beach blocks. Township ZIP: 08402. Free walkthroughs same-week, written estimates the next business day.

What we do in a kitchen

Most kitchens we touch fall somewhere between a refresh and a full gut. We can do either, and most of what's in between.

  • 01

    Cabinets

Stock, semi-custom, or fully custom. Reface existing boxes if the layout is right and the carcasses are sound; replace when they aren't.

  • 02

    Counters

Quartz, granite, butcher block, solid surface. We measure, template, fabricate (with a partner shop), and install.

  • 03

    Plumbing

Sink, faucet, dishwasher, disposal, water filtration, ice maker. Replace lines when they're old; repipe a wall when they're wrong.

  • 04

    Electrical

Under-cabinet lighting, can lights, pendants, dedicated circuits for the range and microwave. Permits when the work calls for them.

  • 05

    Tile & backsplash

Subway, large-format, mosaic, handmade. Honed or polished. We don't mind tricky cuts.

  • 06

    Flooring

Hardwood, LVP, porcelain. Often easier to do during a kitchen build than after.

  • 07

    Demolition & disposal

We pull out the old kitchen, dumpster on site, daily cleanup. Your house stays livable through the project.

Common questions

Kitchens & baths in Margate — questions we hear.

  • Margate is in a coastal flood zone — how does that affect a remodel or addition?

For most interior remodels (kitchens, bathrooms, floors) it doesn't — flood-zone rules apply to substantial improvements, structural work, and ground-floor elevation. For decks attached to the house, additions, and substantial-improvement remodels (over 50% of building value), we coordinate with Margate's flood compliance review and design to current FEMA elevation requirements. We've done dozens of projects in Margate; flood-zone compliance isn't exotic, it's just a step in the permitting process.

  • Can I keep using my kitchen during the remodel?

Usually no — the sink, range, and fridge come out on day one. Most clients set up a temporary kitchen in the laundry room or basement with a microwave, kettle, and the fridge moved over. We help you plan that.

  • Do you handle permits?

Yes. Anything structural, electrical, or plumbing-modification needs a permit in NJ; we pull them in our name and shepherd the inspections.

  • What does a typical kitchen cost?

There's no honest answer that fits in one sentence — a cosmetic refresh might land in the low five figures, a full gut with a wall removed and high-end cabinets can run well into six. We send a written, itemized estimate after the walkthrough so you can see exactly where every dollar goes.

  • Can you work with a designer or architect we've hired?

Happily. We build from their drawings and flag anything we'd push back on before we order.

  • Do you do small kitchen jobs — just a counter swap, or just appliances?

Yes, and we're not weird about small jobs. If it's a half-day swap, we can usually fit it in within a couple of weeks.
